What better way to spend a cold February evening than sampling some of Scotland's finest! THE BALVENIE DISTILLERY lies at the very heart of Speyside, in the Scottish Highlands. In early 1892 work began to convert an eighteenth century mansion, Balvenie New House, into a distillery. The building took fifteen months to complete and on 1 May 1893 the first distillation took place at The Balvenie Distillery.

The Balvenie Distillery retains and nurtures a high level of craftsmanship that other malt whisky producers no longer employ. Nowhere else will you find a distillery that still grows its own barley, still malts in its own traditional floor maltings and still employs a team of coopers to tend all the casks and a coppersmith to maintain the stills.

The Balvenie is a unique range of single malts created by David Stewart, The Balvenie Malt Master for over thirty years. Each has a very individual taste, rich, smooth and underpinned by a distinctive honeyed character.

The Balvenie's Andy Forrester will take you through a range of malts which may include:

·        The Balvenie DoubleWood 12 Year Old

·        The Balvenie Signature 12 Year Old

·        The Balvenie Single Barrel 15 Year Old

·        The Balvenie PortWood 21 Year Old

·        The Balvenie Madeira Cask 17 Years Old

The cost of the workshop, £15 for members and £17.50 for non-members, includes both the tasting and the meal. Places are limited and bookings must be confirmed in advance.
